PAN SAUSAGE AND VEGETABLE BAKE WITH GRAVY
Ingredients:
For the Bake:
1 lb sausage links (pork, chicken, or turkey)
4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
2 cups broccoli florets
2 cups carrots, peeled and sliced
1 large onion, cut into wedges
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
For the Gravy:
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups chicken or beef broth
1/2 cup milk or heavy cream
Salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
1 teaspoon onion powder
Directions:
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Step 2: Prepare the Vegetables
In a large mixing bowl, combine the potato chunks, broccoli florets, carrot slices, and onion wedges. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with dried thyme, dried rosemary, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat the vegetables evenly with the oil and seasonings.
Step 3: Arrange the Sausage and Vegetables
Spread the seasoned vegetables in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Arrange the sausage links on top of the vegetables.
Step 4: Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender and the sausage is cooked through, turning the sausages halfway through the cooking time.
Step 5: Make the Gravy
While the sausage and vegetables are baking, melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until it forms a roux and turns a light golden brown. Gradually add the broth, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Stir in the milk or heavy cream, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce (if using). Bring to a simmer and cook until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 6: Serve
Once the sausage and vegetables are cooked, remove from the oven. Transfer to a serving platter and drizzle with the prepared gravy. Serve immediately and enjoy!
