Classic Spaghetti and Meatballs
Ingredients:
For the meatballs:
1 lb ground beef
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup finely chopped parsley
1 large egg
2 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and pepper to taste
For the sauce:
2 tbsp olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
1 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
For the spaghetti:
12 oz spaghetti
For serving:
Additional Parmesan cheese
Fresh basil leaves
Directions:
Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Make the Meatballs:
In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, parsley, egg, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
Form the mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs and place on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until meatballs are browned and cooked through.
Prepare the Sauce:
Meanwhile, heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté until soft.
Stir in crushed tomatoes, dried basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer. Add baked meatballs to the sauce, cover, and simmer for about 10 minutes.
Cook the Spaghetti:
Cook spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain.
Serve:
Serve spaghetti topped with meatballs and sauce. Garnish with additional Parmesan and fresh basil.
