Mongolian Ground Beef Noodles
Ingredients:
12 oz noodles (lo mein, spaghetti, or your favorite type)
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 cup beef broth or water
1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)
1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional, for added flavor)
/2 teaspoon ground ginger (optional, for extra flavor)
2 green onions, chopped for garnish
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions:
Cook the noodles: Begin by cooking the noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Cook the ground beef: In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
Add the onion and garlic: Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened. Stir in the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, and ground ginger (if using).
Thicken the sauce: Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet with the beef and onions. Bring it to a simmer, then stir in the cornstarch mixture. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
Combine with noodles: Add the cooked noodles to the skillet, tossing everything together until the noodles are evenly coated with the sauce. Drizzle with sesame oil for extra flavor if desired.
Serve: Garnish with chopped green onions and serve immediately. Enjoy your Mongolian Ground Beef Noodles!
