Kate Cassidy, a 25-year-old influencer, had been dating Payne for two years before he tragically died in Argentina.
According to Cassidy, the pair had plans to marry in the future.
Despite having been with Cassidy shortly before his death, power of administration of his £24.2 million ($32m USD) estate was granted to his ex-partner Cheryl Tweedy, who is the mother of his eight-year-old son, Bear, per PEOPLE.
This is due to the late singer having no will.
Hours after that news came to light, Cassidy took to Instagram to share a shot of the inside of her handbag. The photo featured a Starbucks sandwich and some hair extensions.
She captioned the post to her 900,000 followers: “What’s in your purse??? Mine: Starbucks and @glamseamless.”

Cassidy previously opened up about her grief in an emotional interview, saying: “I’m still working on accepting the fact that he’s not here anymore, so it’s hard for me to refer to him in the past tense.”
“When I do refer to him in the past tense, it almost stings that little bit more. I never would have thought that I would be talking about him in the past tense, so it’s definitely really hard to accept.”
In an appearance on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, Cassidy shared the heartbreaking final exchange she had with Liam before leaving Argentina to return to Florida.
“I remember sitting there with him and I was going on and on and on about how much I love him and he laughed and interrupted me,” she recalled. “He was like: ‘Kate, you’re gonna miss your flight. Your car is in the driveway. You’re acting like this is the last time you’re ever gonna see me again.'”
“To look back in time and know that that was the last time I was ever going to see him again is just so chilling,” she said.
“I am so blessed that it was that heartfelt goodbye. Our last goodbye – I wouldn’t have wanted it to be any differently. I am so glad we had that beautiful time together, and I wouldn’t change that.”

Two days later, Cassidy learned of Liam’s death through a phone call.
“Is Liam okay? I heard he fell from a balcony,” a friend told her.
Still assuming it was minor, Cassidy began calling around until another call shattered her world.
“The only update I’ve heard is that Liam’s … dead,” the caller said.
“I still didn’t really believe it,” Cassidy admitted. “I just kept saying, ‘No, no, no. Are you sure? He probably just… broke a bone. He broke a rib. He broke something.’”

Once it was confirmed, she said she “lost it” and was comforted by her housekeeper, who rushed back to console her.
“She put in the garage code, ran in the house, and just literally fell on the ground and just hugged me and just said, ‘I am so sorry,’” Cassidy shared. “It was just me and her, and she was so comforting and brought me water, brought me tissues.”
