The billionaire tech mogul took the stage on March 30 to back Waukesha County Judge Brad Schimel in the forthcoming Wisconsin Supreme Court election and made quite the entrance wearing a massive foam cheese block on his head, a nod to the Green Bay Packers and local pride.
But what followed was a mix of cringe, controversy, and heckling that had the internet wincing.
As Musk handed out two $1,000,000 checks to voters, he also launched into a speech slamming what he called “waste” in the federal government, calling it “insane”.
The comment didn’t land smoothly, prompting hecklers in the audience to shout back and throw off his rhythm.
Musk fired back with a reference to billionaire George Soros, a longtime Democratic Party supporter and donor to Schimel’s opponent, Dane County Judge Susan Crawford.
“It was inevitable that at least a few Soros operatives would be in the audience,” Musk quipped. Then, switching to a posh accent, he waved and added: “Give my regards to George! Say hi to George for me!”
The crowd grew more animated, and Musk pivoted yet again, this time joining in on a chant of “USA! USA!” alongside supporters.
The bizarre turn of events left many stunned. One viewer took to Reddit and wrote that the “second-hand embarrassment” from watching the clip was “unforgivable.”
Another chimed in: “Right? The guy is the richest man in the world, and still painfully cringe. This timeline is so crazy.” A third added: “I cringed so hard, watching him makes me so uncomfortable.”
“So f***ing cringy. I love that this makes him uncomfortable. Unbelievable that he can’t comprehend that people dislike him. We need more booing, less yahooing lol,” a fourth shared.
One more quipped that the Tesla founder “has the charisma of a hairball clogging the shower drain”.

The DOGE chief’s full-throttle support for Schimel is part of a broader Republican push to flip Wisconsin’s Supreme Court.
Framing the race as pivotal, Musk told the crowd: “Thank you for coming out in support. It’s important for the country and the world. The Supreme Court can redraw the districts, which could result in the House shifting to a Democratic majority.
“If that happens, they will try to block all the reforms we are working on for you, the American people,” he added.
