Sponge Cake:

1 cup all-purpose flour

4 large eggs
1 cup sugar

Filling & Frosting:

2 cups heavy cream
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced

Garnish:

Whole strawberries
Additional powdered sugar for dusting

Directions:

Prep the Cake:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan.
Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In a mixing bowl, beat eggs and sugar until fluffy. Mix in vanilla. Alternately add flour mixture and milk, starting and ending with flour.
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes. Let cool completely.

Make the Frosting:

In a chilled bowl, whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.

Assemble the Cake:

Slice the cake horizontally into layers. Spread a layer of whipped cream and a layer of sliced strawberries on the first layer, then repeat with the next layer.
Frost the outside of the cake with the remaining whipped cream.
