Smothered Chicken

Smothered Chicken
Tender chicken cooked in a rich, savory gravy with caramelized onions and herbs.
Ingredients:
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 tbsp olive oil
1 large onion (sliced)
3 cloves garlic (minced)
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp dried oregano
1 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp flour (for thickening)
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley (for garnish)
Directions:

Season Chicken: Season the chicken breasts with paprika, thyme, oregano, salt, and pepper on both sides.
Sear Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sear the chicken breasts for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove from skillet and set aside.
Caramelize Onions: In the same skillet, add sliced onions and garlic. Cook for 5-7 minutes until onions are softened and caramelized.
Make the Gravy: Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Slowly add the chicken broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
Add Cream: Stir in the heavy cream and return the chicken breasts to the skillet. Simmer for 10-12 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked and the gravy is rich.
Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot with mashed potatoes or rice.
Prep Time: 35 minutes
