Ingredients:

For the Dark Chocolate Cake:

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup buttermilk (room temp)
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs (room temp)
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water

For the Blue Frosting:

1 cup unsalted butter (room temp)
4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
Blue food coloring
Edible silver dust (optional)

Instructions:

1. Make the Cake:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch cake pans.
Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa, and salt.
In another bowl, whisk sugar, buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla.
Gradually mix in the dry ingredients.
Stir in boiling water until smooth. The batter will be thin.
Divide into pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cool cakes completely on a wire rack.

2. Make the Frosting:

Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar.
Mix in heavy cream and vanilla, then beat until fluffy.
Add blue food coloring until you reach your desired shade.
(Optional) Add edible silver dust for extra sparkle.

3. Assemble:

Frost the first cake layer, then add the second. Apply a crumb coat and chill for 15-20 minutes.
Finish with a final layer of frosting and decorate with swirls or a smooth finish.
