Layered Taco Bake
Ingredients:
– 1 pound ground beef
– 1 packet taco seasoning
– 3/4 cup water (as called for on back of seasoning packet)
– 1/2 cup salsa con queso
– 3 (8-inch) flour tortillas (soft taco size)
– 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend (divided)
Instructions:
1. Cook the Taco Meat:
Start by browning and crumbling the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Once fully cooked, drain any excess grease. Stir in the taco seasoning and water, following the directions on the seasoning packet. Let it simmer for a few minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
2. Add a Cheesy Twist:
Turn off the heat and mix in the salsa con queso, making sure it’s well combined with the seasoned beef. This adds a deliciously creamy, cheesy layer to the taco meat that sets this bake apart.
3. Layer the Bake:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray an 8-inch round baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Place one tortilla at the bottom of the pan to create the first layer. Spread 1/3 of the taco meat mixture on top of the tortilla, followed by 1/3 of the shredded Mexican cheese blend. Repeat these layers two more times with the remaining tortillas, meat, and cheese.
4. Bake to Perfection:
Place the layered taco bake in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges are just starting to turn golden brown.
5. Let It Rest:
Remove from the oven and allow the bake to cool for a few minutes before slicing into wedges. This helps the layers set and makes serving easier.
6. Serve and Enjoy:
Top with your favorite toppings like sour cream, salsa, guacamole, or diced tomatoes. Slice, serve, and enjoy the cheesy, taco-flavored goodness in every bite!
