Crispy Fried Chicken
Ingredients:
4 chicken thighs
4 chicken drumsticks
2 cups buttermilk
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
Vegetable oil for frying
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Add the chicken thighs and drumsticks, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.
3. Remove the chicken from the buttermilk mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour mixture, coating them thoroughly.
4. In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
5. Fry the chicken in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for about 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through.
6. Remove the chicken from the oil and drain on a wire rack or paper towels.
7. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
