White Chocolate Strawberry Cream Donuts
Ingredients:
For the Donuts:
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup warm milk
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Vegetable oil for frying
For the Strawberry Cream Filling:
1 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup strawberry preserves
For the White Chocolate Glaze:
1 cup white chocolate chips
2 tablespoons heavy cream
Fresh strawberries, sliced (for garnish, optional)
Directions:
Make the Donuts: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt. In a separate bowl, combine the warm milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, until it is smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
Once the dough has risen, roll it out to about 1/2-inch thickness. Use a round cookie cutter or glass to cut out donut shapes. Place the donuts on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry the donuts in batches for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Prepare the Strawberry Cream Filling: In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar together until stiff peaks form. Fold in the strawberry preserves.
Use a piping bag fitted with a small round tip to fill each donut with the strawberry cream.
Make the White Chocolate Glaze: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips with the heavy cream in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
Dip the tops of the filled donuts into the white chocolate glaze. Garnish with sliced fresh strawberries if desired.
Allow the glaze to set before serving the donuts.
