Hilaria Baldwin has addressed the backlash following a viral red carpet moment where she scolded her husband, Alec Baldwin, for interrupting her during an interview.
The incident occurred at the grand re-opening of Planet Hollywood Times Square in New York City, where the couple, who have been married since 2012, was promoting their TLC reality series, The Baldwins.
During the interview, the 66-year-old 30 Rock alum interjected while Hilaria, 41, was discussing their new show.
She responded by saying: “Oh my God. When I’m talking, you’re not talking,” and reiterated: “No. When I’m talking, you’re not talking.” She then joked to the camera: “This is why we’ll have to just cut him out of the show.”
The exchange quickly circulated on social media, with some users criticizing Hilaria’s demeanor.
One user on X (formerly Twitter) commented: “I’m no Alec Baldwin fan, but this clip is shocking. On the red carpet, he’s building Hilaria up, saying ‘It’s gonna be great, you’re a winner,’ and she snaps back aggressively: ‘No talking while I’m talking!’ TWICE.”
“This is classic narcissistic control – public humiliation, dominance, & ensuring the spotlight is ONLY on her. He looks completely defeated,” they added.
Another remarked: “Who humiliates their husband, let alone in public? Almost feel sorry for him,” while a third echoed: “Wow! Very inappropriate to talk like that! I’m not at all Alec Baldwin fan either but this woman has 0 respect for her husband. Makes me feel sorry for him for once.”
In response to the criticism, Hilaria posted a playful video on Instagram featuring herself and Baldwin in bed, mouthing along to the audio of the original interview.
Hilaria then asked her husband: “And that is called, what’s the word of the day?” to which the It’s Complicated actor replied: “Manterrupting.”
They humorously coined the term “correctile dysfunction” to describe the interruption, with Hilaria noting: “The whole point is that we interrupt each other all the time.”
Moments later, the couple was interrupted by one of their seven children who attempted to come into their room. Hilaria then says: “OK, so now that we’ve cleared all of that up, give me a kiss just so they know.”
The couple’s lighthearted approach garnered mixed reactions. Some followers praised their dynamic, with one stating: “You two are Great!! The love for one another and your children is a beautiful thing. I like Authenticity.”
Another quipped: “‘MANTERRUPTING’ Making a teeshirt for my husband Today! It should help him in public.”
However, others remained critical, suggesting the response wasn’t effective “damage control” for the initial backlash.

Hilaria further addressed the situation in another Instagram video, teasing the actor about fans suggesting they could treat her better.
She whispered to him: “I’m having a lot of women tell me they’d treat me better than I’d treat you. Do you want to make a change?” to which Baldwin humorously replied: “Yeah, I think this isn’t working.”
